Matsepes Inc. – previously known as Israel Sackstein Matsepe Inc. – has established itself as one of the Free State’s most respected group of attorneys. Based in Bloemfontein, the judicial capital of South Africa, where historic monuments such as the Supreme Court of Appeal, the High Court and the Old Raadsaal line the streets, Matsepes Inc. offers legal services nationwide. The firm also has offices in Welkom, Odendaalsrus and Johannesburg.
The origin of Matsepes Inc. dates back to World War II to a firm called Kalil & Israel that, through regrouping and joint ventures, evolved into Israel & Sackstein. The firm soon earned a solid reputation throughout the country in the litigation, insolvency and conveyancing spheres, and also established a major practice in the Supreme Court of Appeal.
Israel & Sackstein in Bloemfontein and Matsepe Lekale in the Goldfields began working together in 1997 and eventually joined forces to form the Israel Sackstein Matsepe partnership. Both practices were particularly respected for representing many prominent apartheid-opposing clients during the pre-1994 era. At Matsepes Inc. emphasis is placed on diversity and being proactive. The partnership’s new name, Matsepes Inc., is a bold step away from thAt Matsepes Inc. attorneys and advisers carefully consider all available options, then make a strategic move in the best interest of the client. The new branding, with a knight forming part of its identity, embodies the firm’s major objective: checkmate.e old practice of reflecting senior partners in the company’s name towards the more modern trend of shorter company names.
